At the risk of sounding like a school teacher...compare and contrast with this beautiful meditation from my new hero, Audrey Assad.
I love the last section, where she sings of being satisfied, quiet and confident in the work of the Spirit.
Don't know about you, but I could do with a little more of that in my life.
Lord, fill us with your Spirit
We need to know your quietening
We need to know you gather us under your wings
We need to be still and know that you are
the One who knows,
who loves,
who cares and satisfies.
Give us moments of silence when we can be aware
of the reality of Your presence and power
We are tired of words, of songs, of trying
We want to know the transcendent,
the real, the powerful, the life-changing.
Speak life into our tired hearts.
Amen.
